In the latter part of 2024, the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) has been actively working to improve housing solutions and address community needs. Key developments from August 2024 onwards include significant updates to the Home Ownership Scheme and enhancements in housing management.

On August 27, 2024, the Subsidised Housing Committee approved the average selling prices and sales arrangements for the 2024 flats under this scheme. This decision also involved setting income and asset limits for White Form applicants, ensuring that the program remains accessible to eligible individuals. Notably, approximately 40% of the new flats are reserved for specific applicants under the Priority Newborns Scheme and the Priority Scheme for Families with Elderly Members, reflecting a targeted approach to meet diverse housing needs.

Further developments were announced on October 31, 2024, when the HA made appointments to the Estate Agents Authority. This move marks a significant update in governance and housing management, aiming to streamline operations and improve service delivery.

These initiatives underscore the HA”s commitment to managing and improving housing programs in response to local demands and demographic changes. The focus on expanding access to public housing, enhancing property management, and fostering community engagement is evident due to the HA”s strategic efforts to address the evolving housing landscape in Hong Kong.
